Meditation

~ The Meditation course is not currently scheduled to run during the summer of 2010 ~

Meditation helps us develop on all levels; Physically, Mentally, Emotionally, Energetically and Spiritually. Meditation can be one of the most profound and rewarding things we do in a day, and contrary to popular belief, it is far from boring for those who know how.

This course is designed to introduce the beginner to meditation, while also providing in-depth, academic information and unique initiations which will interest those who already practice. This course will cover a selection of meditation techniques, a rare and powerful mantra initiation, as well as postures and breathing techniques specifically chosen for their value in supporting meditation.

The goal of this course is to help students clearly understand what is meditation and what is not, and to be able to begin to discern and choose techniques that will give them the results they seek.

According to the Agama Yoga tradition, each class is composed of a theoretical segment (an informative lecture with printed handout materials) as well as a practical segment, together creating a comprehensive and effective learning experience.

This course will be taught by Yoav Lerner. Yoav has been studying Agama Yoga intensively since early 2002.  Although he would say he still has much to learn on the subject, he has almost completed the entire Agama Yoga Curriculum, something that takes years of incredible dedication, study and practice. In his journey with Yoga, meditation has become the cornerstone of Yoav's personal practice. He has spent countless hours in meditation, both in reclusive retreat settings, as well as early mornings or late nights while living in the 'West'. The deep personal experience that Yoav brings to this course is complimented by his vast and academic understanding of Yogic topics, the technicalities of meditation, and spiritual philosophies in general. It is a gift to have him as part of the Agama Vancouver team.
